In my opinion this was a shame, the windows had been painted white for many years but Drew spent hours removing the paint so we could make sure to treat any rot but the windows looked great in the original oak state but they had to be painted, shame
Had to cut away rot and renew but also made lime mortar to match exsiting which worked out really well
Softwood repair completely gone
Carefully removing the rotten bottom sash with out breaking the old rippled glass
I've used oak where the original is oak but used idigbo where the previous repair was softwood, I see little point in using oak which rot quicker when painted anyway, the argument is that the idigbo is now part of history version 2017

Typical cause of rot, wood added without proper installation, water gets behind and rots it all away, it's always better to do the job properly
